Un concerto fuori dall’ordinario
L’AME (Australian Mandolin Ensemble) è una grande orchestra mandolinistica, formata da una quarantina di musicisti scelti tra le numerose orchestre australiane: una sorta di Best of mandolin australiana.
In maggio percorreranno una tournée tutta europea che farà tappa anche a Lugano. Conoscendo la nostra orchestra attraverso i nostri canali, hanno voluto assolutamente passare di qui e presentare un concerto unitamente all’OML. La tournée continuerà poi in Germania dove dal 14 al 17 maggio, si terrà l’Eurofestival delle orchestre Mandolinistiche. Una kermesse che si tiene ogni 4 anni e dove passa il Gotha del mandolinismo a livello mondiale.
Il concerto prevede una parte dell’OML, una parte dell’AME e due brani che eseguiremo tutti insieme, creando così un’orchestra di quasi 70 musicisti.
Siamo emozionati per l’eccezionalità di questo connubio e soprattutto molto onorati che una formazione musicale proveniente da così lontano abbia scelto anche noi per un concerto condiviso. NB
AME – Australian Mandolin Ensemble
L’Australian Mandolin Ensemble (AME) è stato fondato appositamente per il suo tour europeo nell’aprile/maggio 2026, riunisce alcuni dei migliori musicisti d’archi pizzicati d’Australia sotto la direzione del Maestro Werner Ruecker.
I 38 musicisti selezionati per la partecipazione, provenienti da Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra e Brisbane, si incontreranno per due giorni di prove a Lisbona, in Portogallo. Lungo la strada, l’ensemble dà concerti a Porto, Logroño, Tolosa, Marsiglia, Lugano e Strasburgo. Le rispettive orchestre ospiti di queste città hanno generosamente accettato di organizzare concerti nelle loro città e in diversi luoghi l’AME si esibirà insieme a gruppi locali. Sotto la direzione del direttore musicale e direttore d’orchestra Werner Ruecker, l’orchestra presenta nuove ed emozionanti opere di compositori australiani come Richard Charlton, Robert Schulz, Stephen Lalor, Brent Keogh e Werner Ruecker. Le due opere elencate a Bruchsal, che verranno eseguite anche a Lugano, sono “Beyond the Never Never” e “Yulugi – Dance of the Earth & Sky”. “Beyond the Never Never” di Richard Charlton è stato composto appositamente per questo tour e sarà presentato per la prima volta al BDZ eurofestival zupfmusik 2026. “Yulugi” è stato commissionato dalla Classical Mandolin Society of America per la loro conferenza dello scorso novembre a Portland, Oregon, e composto da Werner Ruecker.
La maggior parte dei membri dell’orchestra ha recentemente partecipato al Festival della Federation of Australasian Mandolin Ensembles, che si è tenuto a gennaio a Melbourne, in Australia.

An extraordinary concert
The AME (Australian Mandolin Ensemble) is a large mandolin orchestra made up of around forty musicians selected from numerous Australian ensembles — essentially a “best of” Australian mandolin players. In May, they will embark on a fully European tour that will also stop in Lugano. Having discovered our orchestra through our channels, they were eager to visit and present a joint concert together with the OML. The tour will then continue in Germany, where from May 14 to 17 the Eurofestival of Mandolin Orchestras will take place — an event held every four years that gathers the very best of mandolin music worldwide.
The concert will feature a section by the OML, a section by the AME, and two pieces performed together, creating an orchestra of nearly 70 musicians. We are thrilled by the uniqueness of this collaboration and especially honored that a musical ensemble from so far away has chosen to perform a shared concert with us. NB
AME – Australian Mandolin Ensemble
The Australian Mandolin Ensemble (AME) was founded specifically for its European tour in April/May 2026 and brings together some of Australia’s finest mandolin musicians under the direction of Maestro Werner Ruecker.
The 38 selected musicians, coming from Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, and Brisbane, will gather for two days of rehearsals in Lisbon, Portugal. Along the way, the ensemble will perform concerts in Porto, Logroño, Toulouse, Marseille, Lugano, and Strasbourg. The host orchestras in these cities have generously agreed to organize concerts, and in several locations the AME will perform together with local groups.
Under the direction of musical director and conductor Werner Ruecker, the orchestra presents new and exciting works by Australian composers such as Richard Charlton, Robert Schulz, Stephen Lalor, Brent Keogh, and Werner Ruecker himself. The two works listed in Bruchsal, which will also be performed in Lugano, are “Beyond the Never Never” and “Yulugi – Dance of the Earth & Sky.”
“Beyond the Never Never” by Richard Charlton was composed specifically for this tour and will be premiered at the BDZ Eurofestival Zupfmusik 2026. “Yulugi” was commissioned by the Classical Mandolin Society of America for their conference last November in Portland, Oregon, and composed by Werner Ruecker.
Most members of the orchestra recently participated in the Festival of the Federation of Australasian Mandolin Ensembles, held in January in Melbourne, Australia.
